Due to the strong bond to the material, the sealant offers long-lasting protection and makes cleaning considerably easier, whereby application by a professional guarantees the optimum effect.
The advantages
Nano-Care® sealing offers numerous advantages that contribute not only to the beauty but also to the longevity of your boat’s surfaces. Here is an overview of the most important benefits:
Long-lasting protection
The Nanoflex® Dura ceramic coating / ceramic sealant forms a robust and comprehensive protective layer that protects your boat for many years against the environmental influences common in shipping, such as salt water, algae and growth, sand and shells as well as bird droppings. Compared to conventional nano-sealants, which only last around six months, the Nanoflex® Dura ceramic coating / ceramic sealant offers protection for up to 10 years and can withstand temperatures of up to 600°C. The special coating also has anti-fouling and anti-graffiti properties.
Easy cleaning
Thanks to the hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties of the coating, water and dirt are repelled by smoothing the surface, which makes cleaning much easier and keeps the boat clean for longer. This also means that your boat needs to be cleaned much less often, saving you effort, time and money.
Gloss and color depth
The ceramic coating / ceramic sealant gives your boat a long-lasting, brilliant shine and preserves the color depth of the material. As the sealant is invisible, the original color remains unchanged, only the gloss is enhanced. Although the applied sealing layer is extremely thin, it creates a protective effect similar to bulletproof glass, which is strong and transparent at the same time.
Increased resale value
By investing in a professional ceramic coating / ceramic sealant, your boat will remain in a well-maintained condition and undamaged by external weather conditions for longer. This not only leads to lower maintenance costs, but also to a significantly higher resale value, as boats with a like-new appearance find buyers more quickly on the market and generate higher sales prices.
UV protection
The sealant protects your boat from the harmful effects of UV rays and thus prevents premature fading of the material. This keeps the color of your boat strong, intense and like new for a long time.
Environmental friendliness
The long-lasting protective effect and easier cleaning minimize the use of cleaning agents, which also protects the environment.
Versatile application
The ceramic coating / ceramic sealant is not only suitable for painted surfaces, but also for materials such as wood and metal, making it versatile.

Steps in the application of the ceramic coating / ceramic sealant
The application of Nanoflex® Dura ceramic coating / ceramic sealant is suitable for professional users as well as for the personal use of boat owners. However, to ensure optimum and long-lasting results, we recommend application by experienced service providers in the field of surface sealing. The entire process can be broken down into three main steps, as shown below.
Preparation
To begin with, it is important to thoroughly clean the surfaces to be sealed. The surface must be clean, dry and free of any residues such as oil and dust to ensure optimum adhesion of the sealant.
Any damage such as scratches, cracks or holes should be repaired before sealing. Otherwise, the sealant could highlight the defects even more and impair the protection if the sealant cannot be applied over the entire surface due to the defects.
Also ensure that the required quantity of Nanoflex® Dura is available for application, depending on the size of the surfaces to be sealed. Please also observe the instructions on protective equipment and application in the enclosed safety data sheet.
Aftercare
After applying and polishing the sealer, it is important to allow the surface to cure completely. Curing should take place at room temperature and it is important to consider application conditions of 5-30°C and 30-80% humidity. The drying time may vary depending on the ambient temperature and humidity. During this phase, contact with water and other liquids should be avoided to ensure optimal curing of the sealant and long-term protection.
Applying the sealant
After the surface has been carefully prepared, the ceramic coating / ceramic sealant is applied evenly with a cloth or by spray application. It is advisable to divide the surface to be coated into sections and apply in small steps to achieve a complete result.
It is essential to apply the sealer carefully to ensure an even layer and therefore complete protection. The sealer must then be left to react for the recommended time as specified in the product data sheet. This step is particularly important to ensure that the sealer adheres properly and can develop its protective effect. Once the application time has elapsed, polish the surface with a clean cloth to remove excess material and give the surface a brilliant shine.
How long does the ceramic coating / ceramic sealant last?
The durability of a ceramic coating / ceramic sealant when applied to a boat is influenced by various factors and can vary depending on the type of application and external influences.
Under ideal conditions, the sealant can provide protection for up to 10 years; the following important factors that influence durability must be taken into account:
Quality of the sealing:
High-quality ceramic coatings / ceramic sealants from renowned manufacturers generally offer longer protection than cheaper alternatives.
Surface preparation:
Thorough cleaning and decontamination of the surface before applying the sealant is crucial for optimum adhesion and therefore longer durability.
Professional application:
Application by an experienced professional ensures that the sealant is applied evenly and can develop its maximum protective effect.
Regular care:
To preserve the protective layer, it is important to clean the boat regularly with suitable cleaning agents and to keep the surface clean.
Stress:
The more the boat is used, especially in rough waters, the faster the sealant can wear off.
Environmental influences:
Salt water and strong UV radiation can impair the durability of the sealant and lead to faster wear.
How much does a complete ceramic coating / ceramic sealant cost?
Just like the durability of a ceramic coating / ceramic sealant, the cost of a ceramic coating / ceramic sealant also depends on various influencing factors. Parameters that cause the costs to vary are, for example
Size of the boat:
The larger the boat, the more material and labor is required, which increases the costs.
Surface type:
Different materials such as GRP, wood or metal require customized treatments, which has an impact on the price.
Surface condition:
Surfaces that are heavily soiled or damaged require more complex pre-treatment, which can lead to higher costs.
Our experts will be happy to advise you on your individual requirements. Depending on the surfaces to be coated, we can provide you with the relevant price indicators.
Ceramic coating / ceramic sealant for boats in comparison
Diamond sealants
Diamond sealants – primarily offer visual added value by enhancing the shine of the boat. The focus here is primarily on the visual effect and less on protection.
Potential disadvantages
- Lower hardness: Despite the name “diamond sealant”, it does not offer high hardness or resistance. The name is rather misleading.
- Short-lived: Compared to other sealants, diamond sealants offer less long-term protection and need to be renewed more frequently.
Nano-sealing / nano-sealants
Nano-sealing / nano-sealants – place a microscopic protective layer on the surface of the boat that acts at a molecular level. They improve protection against water and dirt, which is a significant improvement on the original paint.
Potential disadvantage
- Shorter duration of effect: In comparison to ceramic coatings, nanocoatings offer permanent protection, but this can be maintained over a somewhat shorter period of maximum effectiveness.
Wax
Wax – gives the hull an attractive shine and intense color depth. It is also cheaper and easier to apply than other types of sealant.
Potential disadvantages
- Low durability: Wax loses its effect quickly and must be reapplied regularly as it is quickly degraded by wear and weathering.
- High susceptibility to salt water: The wax layer is quickly destroyed, especially in environments containing salt water.
- High maintenance requirements: Due to its low durability, wax is less suitable for larger boats as the maintenance requirements are too high.
Polishing
Polishing – restores the original shine and color depth of the hull by removing light oxidation layers and discoloration.
Potential disadvantages
- Low durability: The protective effect of polishing is only short-lived; it must therefore be repeated frequently.
- No permanent protection: Polishing does not provide long-lasting protection against external influences such as water, UV radiation, dirt or corrosion.
Ceramic coating / ceramic sealants
Ceramic sealants – offer the greatest and longest-lasting protection compared to the other methods mentioned. They offer extreme protection against water, UV radiation, dirt and wear and tear and last up to 10 years under optimum conditions.
Potential disadvantages
No significant disadvantages, as they are the most durable and resistant solution for boats, but the application is complex and more cost-intensive compared to other methods.
