Our Nano-Care® impregnation is an advanced, colorless and solvent-free protective coating specially developed for all absorbent natural and artificial stone surfaces. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and is particularly beneficial for materials such as cast stone, terrazzo, terracotta, brick or sand-lime brick. This sealing layer reliably protects your surfaces from moisture and dirt.

The stone remains breathable while retaining its natural appearance, particularly in the case of open-pored wall and floor tiles as well as paving and patio slabs. After application, the surface remains protected against aqueous contamination and moisture for up to three years. We also offer special solutions that protect against oil and grease-based stains.

Step-by-step instructions for impregnating concrete slabs, patio slabs and paving stones

Step 1 - Substrate preparation

Before you start impregnation / waterproofing / proofing, the surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned. Remove dirt, algae, moss and other impurities with a suitable cleaner and a brush. A high-pressure cleaner can be used for stubborn residues, taking care not to set the pressure too high to avoid damaging the surface. Allow the surfaces to dry completely, as residual moisture could impair the adhesion of the impregnation. Also make sure that the outside temperature is between 10°C and 25°C and that no rain is expected on the day in order to achieve optimum results.

Step 2 - Applying the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing

Use a sprayer, roller or brush to apply the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing evenly to the dry, clean surface. Make sure that all surfaces are well wetted, but that no puddles form. During application, the treated areas should be protected from rain and mechanical influences to ensure the effectiveness of the impregnation. After the curing time, it is advisable to dab off any excess impregnating agent with a dry cloth to avoid staining.

Step 3 - Care and aftercare

To ensure the longevity of the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing, the treated surfaces should be cleaned regularly. Use mild cleaning agents that do not attack the protective agent. It is advisable to renew the impregnation every five years, depending on the amount of use and environmental influences. Areas subject to particularly heavy use, such as heavily used garden paths or driveways, should be treated more frequently if necessary in order to maintain optimum protection.

How long does impregnation / waterproofing / proofing last?

The durability of impregnation / waterproofing / proofing depends on various factors, including use and external influences. In principle, the impregnation should be renewed every 5 to 10 years, depending on how much the surface is used.

Important influencing factors here are:

Application locations: In general, we recommend only using our impregnations on vertical surfaces, as this ensures that unwanted dirt and liquid deposits can simply roll off.
Application: An even and careful application of the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing according to the instructions and information in the product data sheet contributes to a longer durability.

Signs that the impregnation is losing its effect are shown by increased dirt adhesion or the penetration of liquids. In these cases, the impregnation should be retreated. For less stressed areas, such as decorative garden surfaces, less frequent renewal is sufficient.
