Application - Work steps for convertible top impregnation

The Nano-Care® convertible impregnation / nano-waterproofing / nano-waterproofing Tex 2 can be applied at home in four simple steps. Below you will find a description of the most important points to consider.

Step 1 – Cleaning the soft top

Make sure that your convertible roof is thoroughly cleaned before applying the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing. Ideally, use a special fabric roof cleaning foam and work it evenly into the soft top with a brush. Make sure that the cleaning foam leaves no residue and then rinse the roof thoroughly with clean water. A wet vacuum cleaner can also help to effectively remove stubborn dirt. Repeat the cleaning of the soft top until there is no more dirt.

Step 2 – Drying the soft top

After cleaning, the soft top should be dried. It is best to place the vehicle in a sunny spot with the roof closed to speed up the drying process. To achieve optimum results from the convertible top waterproofing / soft top proofing, it is important that the convertible top is completely dry before application.

Step 3 – Applying the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing

Choose a clean place for impregnation, e.g. a garage or wash box. Spray the soft top evenly and completely with the Nanoflex ®Tex 2 impregnation solution, taking particular care to treat all areas, including seams and creases. Work systematically to ensure complete coverage.

Step 4 – Drying the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing

Allow the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing to dry completely. Avoid contact with water for at least 24 hours.

To benefit from long-lasting impregnation / waterproofing / proofing results, it is also important to apply the product at an ideal temperature of between 10 and 25°C and to repeat the application before each season or as soon as you notice that the protective effect is wearing off.

How long does the convertible impregnation / waterproofing / proofing last?

On average, a good convertible impregnation / waterproofing / proofing lasts for around one to three seasons with normal use and proper care. However, how long it actually lasts depends on various factors.

In order to benefit from the long-lasting protection of the sealant, you should not only rely on high-quality impregnation, but also take the following parameters into account:

Frequency of use – Frequent opening/closing and exposure to the elements will affect durability.

Type of stress – Heavy use due to a lot of dirt, dust, bird droppings and other unwanted deposits will wear off the impregnation faster.

Cleaning agents – Aggressive cleaning agents can damage the protective layer and thus weaken the effect.

UV radiation – Prolonged exposure to sunlight can also gradually break down the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing.

As soon as you notice that the water-repellent effect of the sealant is fading, dirt is accumulating or discoloration is forming, you should definitely refresh the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing.
