Why should facades be impregnated?
One of the main reasons for using facade impregnation is to maintain the as-new look and texture of your facade in the long term.
The impregnation / waterproofing / proofing protects against external influences such as dirt, weathering and other unwanted deposits, thus extending the service life of the material for a long time.
The impregnating agent penetrates deep into the pores of the façade materials and forms a microscopically thin, water-repellent layer. This invisible protective layer acts like a protective shield that also prevents moisture from penetrating. Thanks to this water-repellent property, the façade not only remains permanently protected, but is also much easier to clean and maintain.
Our products
Thanks to our many years of experience and further development of impregnation solutions of all kinds, we can offer you suitable surface sealants for almost every area of application.
The Nano-Care® impregnation / nano-impregnation / nano-waterproofing, specially tailored to facades, forms a dirt and water-repellent protective layer that prevents both unwanted deposits and green deposits from sticking and water and moisture from penetrating the material.
Our Nano-Care® impregnations are therefore ideal for protecting natural and artificial stone surfaces and facing bricks, as well as for impregnating mineral plaster and concrete façades.
As porous and absorbent surfaces are particularly susceptible to soiling and green deposits, our impregnation solutions are particularly popular for use on materials such as sand-lime brick, brick, clinker, sandstone, marble, terrazzo, slate, porphyry, clay slabs and terracotta tiles.
The protective layer reduces the risk of unsightly efflorescence and limescale edges, thus preserving the beauty and appearance of the treated surfaces in the long term.

Advantages of facade impregnation / waterproofing / proofing in detail
Nano-Care® impregnation / nano-waterproofing offers numerous advantages that not only contribute to the beauty but also to the durability of your surfaces. Here is an overview of the most important benefits:
|
Comprehensive protection against moisture |
The microscopically thin, water-repellent protective layer on the surface of the façade effectively prevents the penetration of water and moisture, thereby preventing damage to the material. |
|
Prevention of dirt and green deposits |
The dirt-repellent coating prevents deposits and green deposits from settling. This keeps your façade clean and looking neat for longer. |
|
Improved color depth |
The color-neutral impregnation / waterproofing / proofing emphasizes the natural colors of the facade and thus ensures a fresh, as-new appearance. |
|
Deep impregnation / waterproofing / proofing |
Thanks to the formula of the impregnation, which is optimally tailored to facades, it penetrates deep into the facade and thus offers robust and long-lasting protection. |
|
Breathability |
The coating enables water vapor exchange, which is particularly important for house walls, so that the walls can continue to “breathe” without absorbing unwanted moisture. |
|
Energy saving |
In addition to improved moisture protection, impregnation / waterproofing / proofing helps to reduce heat loss and thus promotes energy savings. |
Areas of application
The choice of the right impregnation depends on the type of façade surface to be protected. Our facade impregnation / waterproofing / proofing products are specially designed for various surfaces, including common facade types such as:
Natural stone facades – limestone, sandstone, marble, granite, slate, brick, clinker
Artificial stone facades – concrete, aerated concrete, sand-lime brick, cement plaster, clinker brick slips
Wood facades – wood cladding, wood shingles, fiber cement panels.
Our solutions offer effective protection and preserve the beauty of the various façade materials in the long term.
Application of our facade impregnation / waterproofing / proofing
In order to achieve the optimum result when using our facade impregnation / waterproofing / proofing, the following recommendations should be observed before and during impregnation:
Before use
It is important to prepare the surface thoroughly before impregnation / waterproofing / proofing. Make sure that the surface is clean, dry and free of dirt. Any damage to the façade should be repaired before application. Also note that the impregnation should be applied at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C in order to achieve the optimum effect.
During the application
Apply the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing evenly and completely to the surface to be coated. This can be done using a roller, brush or spray application. If necessary, a “wet-on-wet” application is also possible. Ensure that sufficient drying time is observed. The treated surfaces should be protected from moisture for at least 24 hours to ensure effective impregnation.
Further important notes
- Test on an inconspicuous area – Check the compatibility of the impregnation on a hidden area before applying it to a large area.
- Take protective measures – Wear gloves and safety goggles and follow the instructions on the product’s safety data sheet.
- Consumption and cleaning – Consumption is generally 0.1 to 0.5 L/m2, depending on the absorbency of the surface. Clean tools and equipment thoroughly with water after application.
How long does the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing protect the facade?
Thanks to the high-quality composition and continuous further development of our impregnation / waterproofing / proofing for facades, long-lasting protection of up to 10 years can be achieved. This duration of effect varies depending on various factors:
- Surface type – Dense, less porous surfaces offer longer durability compared to softer and more porous materials. The reason for this is that softer materials are less resistant to abrasion caused by friction. The abrasion of the façade also causes the coating to deteriorate more quickly.
- Weather conditions – In regions with extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, intense wind or high UV radiation, it may be necessary to renew the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing more frequently.
- Application quality – Correct application and complete coverage are crucial for the longevity of the impregnation, which is why the impregnation should be applied with great care in order to achieve a long-term result.
- Care and maintenance – Regular cleaning and potential refreshing of the impregnated surface help to maintain the protective layer and extend the life of the impregnation.
Depending on these factors, it is therefore advisable to refresh the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing approximately every 5 to 10 years. If you notice that the water and dirt-repellent properties of the protective coating are diminishing, you can also carry out a partial or complete refreshment earlier.
Is impregnation / waterproofing / proofing visible after application?
In general, the impregnation is not visible after application. The impregnating solution penetrates deep into the pores of the material and forms a microscopically thin, water-repellent layer that is invisible to the naked eye. With individual products such as our Nanoflex® Barrier, however, there may be minimal changes in the appearance of the following material properties:
- Gloss: Impregnated surfaces may appear somewhat glossier than untreated surfaces.
- Color: The impregnation / waterproofing / stone sealing can slightly darken the color of light-colored stones.
- Stains: Inconsistent application can lead to staining.
These changes are usually minimal and only noticeable on close inspection; however, there are exceptions here too:
- Impregnation / waterproofing / proofing with color pigments: These can change the color of the surface to match the surrounding stones, for example.
- Hydrophobic coatings: These can form a thicker layer that may be much more visible.
