Nano-Care® leather impregnation - the optimum protection for your leather products
Leather is a noble, timeless material that is very popular in both fashion and interior design. However, it requires special care to ensure that it retains its attractiveness and functionality over the years.
Impregnation / waterproofing / proofing is essential to protect the leather from moisture, dirt and wear and tear and to extend the life of your products. Without the right impregnation, leather can quickly develop unsightly stains and lose its shine. With Nano-Care® leather impregnation, you can give your leather goods optimum protection that protects the material from water without impairing its natural properties.
Let us convince you of the advantages of this advanced solution in a personal consultation.
Types of leather and their care requirements
Each type of leather has its own special properties that should be taken into account when choosing the right impregnation; see below for the most important types of leather:
Leather type | Description | Care instructions |
Smooth leather | Smooth, closed leather that is generally less susceptible to dirt. | Requires impregnation / waterproofing / proofing to repel water and stains. |
Suede leather | Rough leather, such as suede, which is more sensitive to moisture and dirt. | A special impregnation / waterproofing / proofing protects the structure and preserves the look. |
Nubuck leather | Velvety surface that is more sensitive and requires special care. | Gentle care and special impregnation / waterproofing / proofing are necessary to maintain its condition. |
We generally recommend impregnating all leather products to preserve their durability and appearance.
Our products
Nano-Care® offers a variety of products for the effective impregnation / waterproofing / proofing of leather that use innovative technologies to achieve dirt and water repellent effects. These products are specially formulated to meet the specific requirements to ensure both protection and care of the leather material.
At Nano-Care® we also attach great importance to sustainability, which is why our products often contribute to environmental protection.
Nanoflex® L-Care
Nanoflex® L-Care is a fluorine-free, water-based spray for the impregnation / waterproofing / proofing of leather. It provides effective protection against dirt and water and is easy to use. Particularly suitable for smooth leather, it can also be used on textiles, carpets and upholstery if they do not contain silicones or surfactants.

Application: Nanoflex® L-Care is applied with a commercially available pump spray system. If the leather is smooth, the material may not absorb the liquid completely at first. In this case, the product should be worked in by light polishing. The material must be free of silicones and surfactants before use. Shake well before use as the product may separate.
Nano-Care® C0-T
Nano-Care® C0-T is a fluorine-free, water-based water repellent for textiles and leather. It provides effective protection against water and is durable in use. In combination with high-finishing products, an additional increase in effectiveness can be achieved without polluting the environment with fluorochemicals.

Application: Nano-Care® C0-T can be applied using various application methods:
- Extraction process: 2-4 % (based on weight)
- Foulard process: 40-80 g/l
- Immersion process: 40-80 g/l
- Wash-in: 80 g/l at max. 40 °C or 200 ml per wash cycle (max. 2.5 kg of laundry), tumble dry
The advantages of leather impregnation
Impregnating leather protects the material from various environmental influences and keeps it looking good for longer. Below you will find an overview of the most important benefits of leather impregnation:
Protection from moisture | Protects against water and liquids, prevents staining and protects the leather from drying out and cracking. |
Protection from dirt | Prevents dirt from penetrating the leather pores and makes it easier to clean the material. |
Preserving the color | Protects against color loss and discoloration, especially on colored leathers. |
Preservation of natural properties | Preserves the flexibility and breathability of the leather. |
Extending the service life | Increases the durability of the leather by providing comprehensive protection against moisture penetration and external influences. |
Facilitating cleaning | Dirt is easier to remove as it cannot penetrate deep into the leather. |
Value protection | Well-maintained leather retains its value and looks like new for longer. |
Antibacterial effect | Some impregnating agents offer additional protection against bacteria and fungi that could damage the leather. |

Step-by-step instructions for impregnating leather
Follow these simple step-by-step instructions to impregnate your leather products effectively and provide optimum protection against moisture, dirt and wear.
Step 1 - Prepare the leather
Before you start impregnation, you must clean the leather thoroughly. Remove dust, dirt and other deposits to ensure even impregnation. Use a soft brush and, if necessary, a mild cleaning agent specially developed for leather. Avoid soaking the leather as it is sensitive to moisture.
Step 2 - Apply impregnation / waterproofing / proofing
Apply the waterproofing spray evenly to the leather surface from a distance of approx. 30 cm. Spray generously, but without wetting the leather too much. Make sure that all areas are evenly covered. If necessary, treat particularly absorbent areas with an additional coat.
Step 3 - Drying and exposure
Foroptimum protection, the leather should be left to dry in a well-ventilated area for at least 24 hours after application. During this time, the waterproofing spray can take full effect. Depending on the product, heat should be used to accelerate the drying process.
Additional instructions for use:
- Observe product data: Read the instructions on the product data sheet to ensure correct application.
- Testing: Before applying to large areas, you should test the impregnation spray on an inconspicuous area of the leather for possible discoloration.
Frequency and maintenance intervals
The frequency of impregnation depends on the use of the leather. In general, however, impregnation every 12 months is completely sufficient, unless the leather is subject to heavy use, in which case impregnation should be repeated more frequently to ensure longevity.
Avoid mistakes when caring for leather
To prevent damage to your leather products, you should avoid the following mistakes at all costs:
- Contact with excessive moisture: Too much moisture can damage the structure of the leather and lead to deformation. Avoid moistening the leather directly with water.
- Use of unsuitable cleaning agents: Do not use cleaning agents or household detergents that have not been specially developed for leather products, as these can dry out or discolor the material.
- White stains: These often occur if the waterproofing spray is not suitable for the leather or if it is applied too close. An even application from a distance of about 30 cm helps to avoid such stains.
- Incorrect storage: Leather should not be stored in damp or very hot environments, as this can lead to cracks or deformation of the material. Store your leather products in a cool, dry place.
- Irregular impregnation: Irregular or too infrequent impregnation can make the leather more susceptible to moisture and dirt, which affects its durability and appearance.
