Which non-stick coating is safe?

Non-stick coatings from different manufacturers can vary considerably in quality and composition. We will be happy to advise you on our non-stick coatings, which are harmless to the environment. It is generally advisable to pay attention to the following quality seals:

When choosing a material, PTFE should be avoided as it contains perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which is potentially carcinogenic. Instead, PEEK, PFA, ceramic or sol-gel coatings are preferable as they are generally PFOA-free and harmless to health. It is advisable to check the product data sheets to ensure that no harmful substances are contained.

Certifications such as “food-safe” or “free from harmful substances” are also important. It is advisable to choose products from trustworthy manufacturers and independent testing institutes to ensure quality and safety.

The area of application of the coating also plays a role. Ceramic coatings are particularly suitable for frying pans as they are more scratch-resistant than other coatings. For baking trays, on the other hand, PTFE coatings are often the better choice due to their higher heat resistance. As an environmentally friendly alternative, the use of our Nanoflex ® Dura product is also great, as it is a PFAS-free coating solution that also has the necessary heat resistance.

Finally, the price-performance ratio should be taken into account. Safe non-stick coatings are often more expensive than conventional PTFE coatings. Nevertheless, it is worth investing in quality to protect both health and the environment.
